Cannon Street
This foreshore site has been under investigation since the early 1990s by UCL (Institute of Archaeology), the Thames Archaeological Survey, and Museum of London Archaeology. Archaeological remains include significant assemblages of artefacts ranging in date from the Roman period to the post-medieval period, a sequence of fast-eroding foreshore deposits (behind the Victorian bargebed revetments) and a large and varied group of post-medieval structures including the remains of jetties, river stairs, causeways, drainage features and riverfront defences.
